Well, I really ought to get this damn blog going, even if it is only a sort an infrequent diary to my beloveds (you know who you are and you are the only people reading this).

The day is Saturday, January 12th, the year of our Lord 2013

Last year, everyone said they had a good feeling about the coming 12 months... and look how that turned out. Let's just say the best of it was uneventful.

This year began like a pimply thirteen year old, all confused and insecure. Love it.
Dare I prognosticate?

Maybe soon, when I am in a better mood. My love to you, Gollum.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/italy/9201344/Angry-Roman-centurions-besiege-Colosseum.html

Yesterday, Rome's gladiators and centurions rose up as the republic's new law enforcement officials, the police, attempted to separate them from their beloved colosseum.

(Actually, that is a rather rough crowd of ex-cons and gangish types. a few months ago there was a skirmish among them. One gladiator pulled out a real knife and stabbed another for invading his territory. But I like them. The niche serves as a career opportunity for men coming out of prison. I am sorry to see them go. poor fellows)

Morning news with ADD

Morning Sun, good morning winter,

It's seven am and my friends who-shall-not-be-named are at a birthing centre. I took custody of their first born and we watched sound of music twice. She hesitantly dozing off beside me while I was dying with sleep.

- Flash: health care! Religious liberty! Scandal! Dolan fights Obama. Biden pretends to care. Other bishops clamour on board. This is a righteous party now.

I have discovered a love for books on tape... Am waiting to drive away into the sunset with one blaring from my mother's mostly working car stereos.

- Flash: Demi Moore ODed, she is so upset... what is Ashton going to do next?

I hear Rome is buried under ice and snow. I would not have left that country had I not beat the odds and found my way to the airport when I did. I feel disoriented. Not quite sure what this land of America is.

- Flash: Italy is bankrupt. Meanwhile the Vatican is plagued by more scandal, once again of a financial nature. Vigano v. Bertone! Who will win? Who will walk away muddy?

Seeing as my popularity has skyrocketed so quickly after the launch of this blog (launch! they must have put rocket fuel in that baby!), I have decided to post another..... post. I promise you, dear readers, these blogs will become more informed, more focused, someday. But for today let us just revel in the existence of the blog.

Note: content coming soon.
Hello, you have been summoned to my first post. The title says it all. I hope some day, some post, the title will not be true.

Actually, it doesn't matter; this blog thing is for mine own eyes to behold, an external hard drive for mine feeble memory, and possibly - in the fantastic future - an alibi of some sort. Or perhaps, I will come across secret evidence of a conspiracy and reveal it here to the world before I succumb to government pressure and retire to the river. There are just so many possibilities for the future of this public-yet-oh-so-easy-to-publish diary.

The truth is: I am not sure how public/private a thing of this nature should be. But sometimes, my dear family members and/or friends, I have felicitous mischance encounters and stories that perhaps I could share with you.

As for today, it is a Thursday afternoon, this European city is cold and misty and promising a snowstorm, the likes of which have never been seen since 1985 (the year of my birth). I was supposed to fly home to a town-that-shall-not-be-named but I have a sneaking suspicion that the people of this nation (a people of typically olive complexion) will run about in terror at the first drop of snow and take a 3 day break to recover.
